چکیده
• It allows anonymous, intergroup comparison of exam results, thus permitting laboratories to set quantitative performance goals relative to other laboratories. • It reports, for an individual or group, exam results for urine sediment categories (cells, casts, crystals, and organisms/artifacts) and the specific structures (e.g., waxy casts, oval fat bodies) within each category. This allows supervisors to distinguish clinically significant from insignificant errors. • It includes urine chemistry data, thus making the program more realistic because technologists usually have these data when interpreting microscope images. • It is easier to access because it can now be used from any computer on the internet. • It prints reports that meet CLIA requirements for documenting competency assessment.

The Effect of Preanalytical, Analytical, and Postanalytical Variables on D-dimer Measurement
D-dimer is a soluble fibrin degradation product deriving from the plasmin-mediated degradation of cross-linked fibrin. D-dimer can hence be considered a biomarker of activation of coagulation and fibrinolysis, and it is routinely used for ruling out venous thromboembolism (VTE). D-dimer is increasingly used to assess the risk of VTE recurrence and to help define the uoptimal duration of anticoa...

Received: 16 Oct, 2012 Accepted: 22 Dec, 2012 Background & Aims : Liver cirrhosis is associated with coagulation disorders due to decreased synthesis of clotting and inhibitor factors. It has been hypothesized that ascites plays an important role in hyperfibrinolytic state and increased risk of bleeding. We have studied the role of ascites in the hyper fibrinolytic state and relationsh...
متن کاملPlasma Fibrinogen and D-dimer in Children With Sepsis: A Single-center Experience
Background & Objectives: In sepsis, enhanced fibrin formation, impaired fibrin degradation, and intravascular fibrin deposition lead to a prothrombotic state. The current study aimed at measuring various coagulation parameters to predict an early marker for disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC). Methods: The current prospective s...
متن کاملBiocompatibility of poly2methoxyethylacrylate coating for cardiopulmonary bypass.
The systemic inflammatory response to cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) may contribute to the development of postoperative complications. Heparin-coated circuits and poly2methoxyethylacrylate (PMEA)-coated circuits have been developed to reduce the risk of such complications. We compared the biocompatibility of these circuits. Twelve patients scheduled to undergo elective coronary artery bypass graf...

and 0.03 6 0.1 mg/L for the low range (,1 mg/L). We conclude that citrated and heparinized plasma are equivalent specimens for D-Dimer testing with Tinaquant. For harmonization of D-Dimer concentrations between citrate and heparin plasma, a conversion factor of 0.84 for heparin plasma is recommended. The use of heparinized plasma allows measurements of chemical constituents as well as D-Dimer f...
